Question:
I have a 2014 Chev Silverado 4WD with a front mounted 2inch receiver hitch that has a 7-1/2inch ground clearance from the bottom . I need a platform style 2 bike carrier that rides high and is as narrow front to back as possible. I have to remove the wheels from my bikes on my current hanging type carrier. Which make model rack do you suggest? Price is an important factor, too. Thanks

I can help you find a bike rack for the 2 inch front hitch on your 2014 Chevy Silverado.
For the most economical platform bike rack, I would recommend the Swagman # S64650 for your 2014 Chevy Silverado's front hitch. This rack has a shank rise of 4 inches and will extend out from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the carrier 20-1/4 inches. The weight capacity of this bike rack is 35lbs per bike and will fit bikes with a maximum wheel base of 51-1/2 inches in length. A great hitch and cable lock combo for this rack is the # S64031.
Another great rack that does cost slightly more is the Saris SuperClamp EX2 # SA4025F. This rack has a 5 inch rise in the shank and will extend from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the rack 26 inches. This bike rack is also lightweight and made in the USA. The Saris Freedom EX2 # SA4025F can hold 2 bikes each weighing up to 60lbs each. The Saris will already include both a hitch and cable lock for added security.
You will want to make sure that your front hitch is rated for this weight before installing the bike rack and bikes.
I have linked both products to this page for your convenience.
