Question:

Hi, Im wondering if a couple of products would fit on a 2016 Mazda Miata, and if you think an autoshop would be able to install the trailer hitch. Im looking at the following: Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4inch - C11435 Kuat Beta - Folding 2 Bike Aluminum Rack for 1-1/4inch Trailer Hitches - Gun Metal Gray - B202-114 I know that these are supposed to fit on older Miatas, but wasnt sure if that applied to the new model as well. Thank you!

The Curt Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11435 is confirmed to fit your 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata. This trailer hitch features a 1-1/4 inch hitch receiver that will work well with the Kuat Beta 2-Bike Rack # B202-114. This is a great, light-weight bike rack that will work well with the Curt # C11435 hitch on your Miata.

Your local automotive repair shop will likely install the hitch for you. I've attached the installation instructions for you to look at to see if you think you're comfortable performing the installation or if you'd rather have your mechanic do the install.

In order to comply with Curt's warranty on the trailer hitch, you will want to use a stabilization strap # 18050 while carrying your bike rack. I've attached an installation video of this strap for you.

If you plan on carrying and women's or children's bikes that lack the traditional top frame bar, I recommend using a bike adapter bar, # UB01. This adapter will provide a secure attachment point for bikes that have an angled frame bar or that have a step through frame. Additionally, this adapter can help ease installation of children's bikes that have minimal frame clearance. I've attached a review video of this adapter bar for you.
