Question:
What is the height difference between the bent shank for the Curt Cargo carriers: C18151 and C18152. I know the bent model offers more ground clearance but how much? Is the bent model recommended for heavier loads?

Expert Reply:
The bent shank on the Curt # C18152 is indeed going to give you more ground clearance than the straight shank on the # C18151. It will give you 2-1/2 inches more of a rise than the # C18151 carrier will.
The weight capacity of both cargo carriers is 500lbs so the carrying capacity is the same between racks, but what makes the difference is that the angled shank elevates the platform for better ground clearance and easier loading. The # C18152 also has a slightly larger platform compared to the # C18151 by about 4 inches wide.
I've linked a video of each rack demonstrated on vehicle's very similar to yours for you to check out.
