which hitch do i need for 2006 dodge ram 2500 shortbed with the factory installed hitch [ class 5 ] .. it doesnt look like it is welded on but i could be wrong .. i would rather take factory hitch off if possible an have it tuck up under factory bumper tight

The factory trailer hitches on the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500s are welded on. You can add a Class V Curt hitch, # C15409 for a 2 inch receiver or # C15809 for a 2-1/2 inch receiver, and either will install beneath the factory hitch. I have linked videos showing example installations of these hitches for you.
Trailer hitch # C15704 will not work because it was designed for truck models that do not have the factory hitch.
