Adding LED Amber Turn Signals to a Trailer

Updated 04/04/2016 | Published 03/31/2016

Question:

CBL22AB Hello from the Northcoast! I am restoring an old luggage trailer. I am looking for some LED amber turn signal lights. I like this triangular marker light but can I use it as a turn signal? I attached a picture for an idea of light location. I am not against using a light in the old location but I am just trying to do something different. Smaller the better too. Let me know!

LED clearance light # CBL22AB is not DOT rated as a turn signal so I do not recommend using it. LED light # STL72AB can be used as a turn signal. It is one of the smaller options at 6-7/16" Long x 2-5/16; tall x 1-3/4" thick.

Used with bracket # BK70BB and grommet # a70gb you will be able to mount it in your desired location. You will also need harness # A45PB.

But those lights on your trailer are side marker lights, not turn signals. US trailers have the turn signals combined with the brake lights. In order to have separate turn signals you would need to add a converter on the trailer side to separate out the brake signal from the turn signal.
