When selecting a weight distribution system, you will want your total tongue weight to fall close to the middle of the operating range for the system you choose. The total tongue weight is the tongue weight of your trailer in its fully-loaded ready-to-tow condition added to the weight of any cargo you have behind the rear axle of your towing vehicle.
When dealing with a tongue weight about 1,200 lbs I recommend using a weight distribution system along with sway control. Sway control helps keep the trailer from rocking and back and forth movement when dealing with high winds and large passing trucks.
The Curt Weight Distribution System, part # C17057 you referenced has a tongue weight range between 1,000 and 1,400 lbs so you would be right in the middle of that range. For a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball I recommend part # C40030. For an adjustable shank I recommend part # 17120.
The system I recommend for you is the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System, part # EQ37140ET. This system has the same tongue weight capacity as the # C17057, but the # EQ37140ET also features 4-point sway control. This system includes the adjustable shank and a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball.
