Question:
I have a 2 inch receiver and have calculated the to be 3. Would this product work at a 3 1/2inch ? Wasnt sure if I should go higher or lower when trying to get close to the calculation.

When you calculate the ball mount rise or drop needed, in many cases it won't be possible to find a ball mount that puts you exactly level. As long as the ball mount places you within an inch or two of being level, you'll be fine. A 1/2 inch difference would certainly fall into the 'close enough' category.
If you have the choice of being a bit higher or a bit lower than level, it's best to be higher than level if possible. In some cases, the trailer's tongue weight can cause the rear suspension of the vehicle to sag, so choosing a bit more rise than you actually need can bring you close to level when that sag is accounted for.
