Question:
I have a 2004 Volvo XC70 that I would like to mount a Yakima KingJoe 3 onto. I have seen that the fit guide states the need to use the glass hatch hooks for the upper strap hooks. In your answers to other questions you talk about the use of a second set of glass hatch hooks. Is a second set needed for my vehicle? When you use a second set would it be possible to use them on the side? I understand this would be a bit complicated. I would have lightly tape them to the sides to keep them in position until the hatch was closed. The reason I ask this is because the side hooks would have to be hooked very close to the spot where the upper glass meets the lower metal panel.

Some vehicles require a second set of Glass Hatch Hook adapters to mount the Yakima KingJoe Pro 3 # Y02625 but you will NOT need a second set for your 2004 Volvo XC70. However, since it does require the use of the adapters in place of the top straps (one set is included with the rack) then it limits the bike rack to 2 bikes.
For a bike rack that does not have the adapter requirement and that will hold 3 bikes I recommend the Thule Passage # TH911XT. I have included a link to a video review of this bike rack for oyu.
If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.
