Question:

I have a 2013 Ford F-150 Ecoboost with 3.73 rear end. I need to tow an all Aluminum Trailer. Trailer weight is 4150lbs. Cargo weight will be 2500lb. Truck pulls trailer fine power wise put ford says not over 5k without distrabution bars. The trailer hitch and frame is all aluminum. I cant find a compatable system to use on the trailer. Need a recommendation. Thanks

The first thing to check is if the trailer can be used with weight distribution. Many aluminum frame trailers cannot be used with weight distribution so a call to the manufacturer will be required to determine if your specific model can or can't be used with weight distribution.

If you can use it then to choose a weight distribution system you will need to go by the total tongue weight of the set up. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer, when loaded and ready to tow, and adding to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.

If the trailer weighs 6,650 pounds loaded then its tongue weight would be around 665 to 998 pounds (10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight).

Since your trailer has a diamond plate covering the top of the frame at the front I recommend a system that bolts to the sides of the frame, # BXW1003, which is rated up to 1,000 pounds tongue weight. I have linked a demo video for you.

This system does not come with a ball so for a compatible 2-5/16 inch ball I recommend # 19286. I have included some helpful links on weight distribution and determining tongue weight for you.
