The Curt Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver, # C11387, is a Class I hitch with a SAE J684 Certification.
I called the supplier (Curt) about the SAE certification and they said the J684 certification is a federally mandated certification that has to be on all trailer hitches.

The Curt Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver, # C11387, will fit the 2008 Mini Clubman. It has a gross towing weight of 2,000 lbs. and a tongue weight of 200 lbs.

If this hitch is used for non-trailer loads, like bike racks or cargo carriers it is required by Curt to use the Curt Bike Rack Strap with Cambuckle, # 18050. This strap is needed to stabilize the load on the hitch, which will help keep extra stress off of the hitch.

If you will be towing you will need a ball mount, # C45019, and a hitch ball. Depending on the size of the trailer coupler you will use either the Curt 2 Inch Hitch Ball, # A-82, or the Curt 1-7/8 Inch Hitch Ball, # A-80.
