Question:
I recently purchased the 904B unit 2 and 2 5/16 inch balls, with a 1 inch shank so I can hitch up either my utility or boat trailer, without changing the whole hitch assembly. For moving these trailers around my barn just a few feet at a time, for storage, etc I would like to hitch them up to my sub compact tractor. That has a 3/4 inch hole for the hitch. The 800B would save me removing the tractor hitch plate to drill it out ... the 800B already comes with a 2 inch ball, is the mounting post also compatible with the 2 5/16 inch ball from the 904B unit? Thanks

Expert Reply:
The 2-5/16 ball will fit on the shank of the # 800B, but because the shank portion uses a 3/4 inch threaded shank, it's not strong enough to tow a trailer large enough to be rated for a 2-5/16 inch ball. However, if you're just moving the trailer a few feet on flat ground, you can use a standard 2 inch ball of any kind if you wish.
