What Size Crossbars will Work with Thule Universal Mounting Kit - Rooftop Ski Rack Hardware System

Question:
Will this adapter work with square cross bars that are slightly bigger in width and length than a Thule cross?

The Thule Universal Mounting Kit # 7533998 will accept crossbars up to 3-3/4 inches wide and up to 1 inch tall. Thule square bars are 1-1/4 inches wide and 7/8 inches tall so depending on how much larger your bars are this system could work.
