Can a 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 5-1/2 foot bed Tow a Gooseneck Stock Horse Trailer

Question:

Do you see any problems with installing a gooseneck hitch in a 2008 1/2 ton Silverado Z-71 with 5 1/2foot bed if what Ill be pulling is a 16foot stock trailer with a couple of horses inside?

The Curt gooseneck hitch part # C615-632 that you referenced has been confirmed as a fit for your 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 5-1/2 foot bed.

Since you said the horse trailer is a stock trailer that would typically mean that the nose of it does not have a storage area or living quarters and that the front of the trailer would come to a very narrow point where the coupler installs. I attached a picture that shows the style of gooseneck trailer that would work on a truck with as short of a bed as your 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 5-1/2 bed.

If the nose of the trailer is wide like it has an enclosed storage area then you aren't going to have enough clearance to make tight turns due to how short the truck bed is.

You also want to be sure not to exceed the towing capacity of the truck with the weight of the trailer and the horses.
