This actuator uses a surge-type hydraulic setup that automatically activates the trailer’s disc brakes when the tow vehicle slows down. The internal master cylinder converts forward motion into hydraulic pressure for smooth, even braking every time. With a 12,500-lb gross towing weight and 1,250-lb maximum tongue weight, it delivers dependable braking power for heavy loads without any extra electronics to manage.
The built-in electric reverse lockout keeps the brakes from engaging when you’re backing up. Once wired into a 5-pole flat, 6-way round, or 7-pole connector, the solenoid automatically detects when your vehicle is in reverse and prevents hydraulic pressure from building in the system. It’s one less step to worry about when maneuvering around a ramp or driveway.
The master cylinder is made from glass-reinforced nylon that won’t rust or corrode like metal. A large fluid reservoir helps prevent low-fluid issues and keeps everything running smoothly, while the automotive-style diaphragm cap seals the system to block dirt and moisture. Inside, an acetal copolymer lining keeps movement consistent as the actuator telescopes under braking.
The 8” adjustable channel provides flexibility for different coupler styles (sold separately). You can mount a ball coupler, lunette ring, or clevis attachment in one of three height positions to match your setup and keep the trailer level. It’s a straightforward way to dial in the fit without drilling or extra modification.
This actuator welds directly onto a standard 50-degree A-frame tongue for a solid connection. The heavy-duty steel body comes primed and ready for paint, so you can finish it to match your trailer. The included breakaway system adds an extra layer of safety by helping stop the trailer if it ever disconnects during towing.

I received the coupler on time but was missing the reverse solenoid. My installation was a little unique do to replacing a super short Atwood unit. I also had to modify the channel as well, you may not have to for your application.

replaced actuator on utility trailer, updated frame and axles, was time to complete with correct weight actuator,, went from 7k to 12.5k and has by pass for auto back up anti lock.. this is mcuh better than non by-pass type

Arrived in good condition, although box was in bad shape. Just got it and disassembled to fit up and weld on 1978 Airstream 31' Excello 500. Will have to reposition jack and possibly propane tank mounts. This trailer originally had a vacuum brake booster. will update when installed.
