Question:
I need to secure a large off road spare tire, 395/85/R20 46inch tall and heavy, I have tie down anchor points in the bed of the truck, so just a J hook on the end, and the bed width is 7, the tie downs are at each end of the 7. What do you recommend?

Expert Reply:
That is one big tire! We have one spare tire mount that you could potentially use for your 395/85-20 tire. It is a trailer hitch mount carrier # RM-195225. This carrier has the ability to hold the tire but it only fits in a 2 inch trailer hitch receiver.
The carrier also has a 2 inch receiver of its own for use with accessories such as a bike rack or for flat towing a vehicle with all 4 wheels on the ground. When using this carrier it reduces the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 33 percent so keep that in mind if using an accessory in the end of the carrier. I have linked a video review of this tire carrier for you.
