Question:

How can this anti-rattle hitch pin P/N SHP2040-XL work with the Weigh Safe 2 2 1/2 hitch when the receiver portion of the hitch is solid? The anti-rattle device fits on the inside of a hollowed receiver hitch and this one would not work per the instructions.

You are correct, you would not be able to use locking anti-rattle device # SHP2040-XL on a Weigh Safe adjustable ball mount for 2-1/2 inch hitches because of the solid shank. And that is why we do not recommend it as a related product on any of the 2-1/2 inch Weigh Safe ball mount pages.

For anti-rattle you would need to use something such as the Blue Ox Hitch Immobilizer, # BX88225, which takes out accessory movement within the receiver vertically and horizontally rather than just one or the other like most devices.

For a lock you could just use a regular locking hitch pin such as # e98881.
