Question:

I would like to know how to bypass the IBC on my truck! It will not work with my 2008 Carson Fun Runner 20 foot toy hauler.

I have great news for you, I can help you bypass your factory brake controller and install your aftermarket brake controller.

In full size trucks, like your Chevy Silverado 2500 HD, you will have to make a few connections to allow you to bypass your factory brake controller. First you will need to locate the wires under the dash where your left shin would be. The colors should be Red/Black, White, Light Blue/White, Dark Blue, and possibly Orange.

These wires are the ones you will want to splice your aftermarket brake controller into as follows:
•Red/Black to Black Battery Power on the controller
•White to White Ground
•Light Blue/White to Red Brake Light Signal

You should now have the Blue wire left on your aftermarket brake controller to connect. Splice this wire to a 10 gauge wire like # 10-1-1, that we offer on our site, and run it through the firewall and all the way back to the 7-way connector. Once you get back to the 7-way trailer connector you will see one blue wire going into the back of the connector, cut this wire and splice the 10 gauge wire into the blue wire. This process will bypass the factory brake controller. Please note if you end up not having power to your brake controller you may have to connect some of the wires under the hood to have power.
