Question:

Hello, I would like to know if this one hitch fits all Tacomas of those years. I have been shopping around for a hitch and was asked by one vendor if I had a 4wd or a 2wd truck. I have a 2wd drive but it is a 6 lug prerunner 2001 V6 auto and I know that the suspension on it is different from a normal 2wd 5 lug pickup so I was wondering if the frame/hitch would be any different. Someone on my tacoma forum mentioned this hitch but when I asked if there was a difference between the different trim levels I didnt get an answer.

The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 75078, fits your 2001 Toyota Tacoma 2WD PreRunner.

The # 75078 hitch fits 1995-1/2 to 1997 Toyota Tacoma 4WD only and 1998 to 2004 Toyota Tacoma All 2WD and 4WD including PreRunner.

Also needed for the hitch will be the Curt Ball Mount, # C45010, Pin and Clip, # PC3, and the hitch ball. The hitch ball size will depend on the coupler size of the trailer you will be towing. You will need either the 2 inch ball, # 19247, or the 1-7/8 inch ball, # 19260.

The wiring harness is the Tow Ready Wiring Harness, # 118379, which plugs in behind the vehicles taillights. There is no cutting or splicing of wires.

I am sending links to the instructions for the hitch and the wiring harness. Also two video links of that hitch and wiring harness being installed on a 2000 Toyota Tacoma.
