Question:

Does the Swagman hoop #P189 fit the same size square tubing as the #P318 hoops? Ive customized a Swagman rack to carry long wheelbase recumbents and it seems that the P318 hoops are bending. Looks like the P189 hoops would be less subject to bending as they are supported near the center rather than the end. thanks

I spoke with my contact at Swagman about using the # P189 in place of the # P318. He said there would be no problem with the # P189 fitting on the Swagman XTC-2 bike rack. The support bar is the same size on both of these racks.

I think the reason your wheel holders may not be holding up is because your recumbent bike is heavier than the weight capacity of your bike rack.

Another option you could try is the Hollywood Racks Replacement Wheel Holder for the left side # HRSPRWHL and right side # HRSPRWHR. These wheel holders will also fit your Swagman XTC-2 rack. Because these wheel holders are designed to fit a bike with a higher weight capacity, they may hold up better with your bike.
