Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring 2007 Nissan Frontier-Trailer Taillights/Turn Signals Arent Working
Published 09/01/2015 >
Question:
Hello: I purchased a Curt C56225 wiring kit from you for my 2007 Nissan Frontier. It obviously did not have factory towing. However, before the kit I had a 4 wire connector on it plugged in at the rear harness plug and could get signal and brake lights, but no tail lights. After the kit install I now can only get tail lights and no brake or turn signal lights. Trailer is not the problem - it works fine on our other vehicle. Any thoughts? Thank you!

The first thing I'd recommend is reviewing the installation procedure. It's possible that the jumper cable with the relays was plugged into the wrong connector behind the passenger side kick panel. make sure the jumper wire with the relays was inserted fully into the connector, it should click into place. Also, make sure the relays are pressed firmly into place, so they bottom out.
If this fails to solve the problem, there's likely a blown fuse in the fuse block located in the engine compartment. Examine the towing fuses and replace as needed. If you do have a blown fuse, be sure to closely examine the wiring on the trailer before plugging it in. Typically, it's a short circuit in the trailer wiring that causes a blown fuse. Look for pinched wires, or worn and cracked wire insulation, anything that would allow the wire to short out on the trailer frame.
I'll link you to an FAQ article with more strategies fro troubleshooting trailer wiring.
