Will Bike Adapter Bar Allow Womens Step-Through Frame Bike to Fit Swagman XTC-2 Platform Rack
Question:
I have a 2012 Ford Focus hatchback. It looks like the Swagman XTC-2 would fit great on the car. Heres my concern: My bike is a girl or step-through frame, so there is no top parallel bar. The top bar curves steeply downward to leave plenty of room to step through, wear a full skirt, etc. Will the post that holds the frame of the bike on the Swagman XTC-2 work when theres no top bar across the top of the bike?

Bikes that do not have a horizontal top frame tube, as found on a typical man's bike, can be fitted with what's called an adapter bar to make them easier to mount on hanging and platform style carriers. An adapter bar simply connects to the seat and handlebar posts to provide a level surface to mate with the carrier. The bar serves as a substitute for the top frame tube. On the Swagman XTC-2 2-Bike Platform Rack # S64670 the adapter bar will be the point for the ratcheting padded hooks to secure the bike to the carrier.
