Question:
The manual says that you have to disconnect the negative battery cable. Is this required only to keep the battery from becoming discharged? If so, can a battery charge line be used from the moter home instead of disconnecting the battery. I've also seen a fuse shutoff for the Edge, is this another option?

The negative battery cable does need to be disconnected to flat tow your 2015 Ford Edge and it is because otherwise it would drain the battery. There is a way to provide a maintenance charge to the battery but it will not charge up the battery and the battery could still drain. You can also add a battery disconnect, # RM-766, to make it easier.
Roadmaster has a charge line kit, # RM-156-25, that will work with your Edge. It'll help maintain charge but, like I mentioned, won't actually charge the battery up.
A fuse bypass is needed on vehicles that have to have a fuse pulled in order to flat tow the vehicle. Consult your owners manual for more information on any fuses that have to be pulled on your Edge. A fuse bypass does not replace removing the negative battery cable though. It just makes removing power to a fuse easier. Disconnecting the battery would remove power to the whole vehicle.
