Should Trailer Suspension Shackle Straps Mount Below or Above the Equalizer
Updated 06/22/2015 | Published 06/21/2015 >
Question:
What would be the problems if you change the shackle straps to below the equaliser. ??? Many thanks.

Having the shackles below the equalizer would put the leaf spring out of level. Also, the equalizer wouldn't want to function properly and most likely the shackle would end up flipping over to the top of it or binding up/putting undue stress on the leaf spring/shackle/equalizer.
You would definitely want to have the shackles mounted above the equalizer. Check out the help article I attached on trailer suspension as well.
