Recommended Transmission Cooler For 2011 Toyota Tundra With 5.7 Liter Engine For Towing

Updated 06/17/2015 | Published 06/15/2015

Question:

Hi, do you recommend installing a transmission cooler on a 2011 Tundra Crewmax - V8, 5.7 liter engine. We are pulling a small trailer weighing 2500lbs, loaded. Add in humans and coolers and were looking at total weight 3000lbs between cab occupants and the trailer.

It never hurts to add a transmission cooler to your vehicle when you are towing a trailer. The biggest concerns when adding a cooler is making sure you have adequate space and choosing the best location when installing a cooler so that you get the best performance.

For a transmission cooler that offers the highest performance I recommend a cooler like the Derale Stacked-Plate Transmission Cooler Kit, part # D13402. This cooler measures 13 inches wide x 6-7/16 inches tall x 2 inches deep.
