Class III Hitch Recommendation for a 2015 Subaru Forester

Question:
When reviewing the Class III vs the Class II Draw Tite hitch options for the 2015 Subaru Forester, I see that the Class III 75876 uses 7/16inch carriage bolts which pass through the forward access hole without hole modification. For the Class II 36523 hitch, 1/2inch carriage bolts are used, and that requires drilling and enlarging the same access hole. Not sure why Draw-Tite did that. This seems odd to me since the Class II is lighter. If I want to install the Class II 36523, can a hardware kit be provided with 7/16 hardware? Thanks

That is interesting that the Class III hitch # 75876 uses smaller bolts than the Class II hitch. All I can really say on that is that Draw Tite tested each hitch with the included hardware and they both met the listed capacities just fine so there would be no need to use the slightly thicker bolts of the Class II hitch.
The Curt hitch that has been confirmed to fit your vehicle part # C13144 does use the 1/2 inch diameter bolts so that might be your best option.
