Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring When One Side Of Trailer Has No Functioning Lights
Updated 05/21/2015 | Published 05/20/2015 >
Question:
If one whole side of trailer lights is working and one whole side is not, is this still likely a grounding issue. The wiring itself looks to be in good repair. A few days ago, the running light on the side that is now non-functional was glowing very dimly. Now that one is out, as are the rest of the lights on that side of the trailer.

It sounds like you are on the right track. Ground wire problems can cause a variety of issues such as the dim lights you mentioned to not working at all. You will want to inspect all the wiring for the lights and make sure there is no sign of corrosion or damage. Grounds should always be secured to a clean, bare metal surface.
You will also want to check the trailer connector for signs of damage or corrosion to any of the pins. I have attached a helpful article that explains how to troubleshoot trailer wiring you can check out.
