Sway Control Recommendation for a 30 foot Bumper Pull Trailer
Updated 05/13/2015 | Published 05/12/2015 >
Question:
I have a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 and a 2015 Coleman 262BH travel trailer. It weighs around 5,600 lbs dry and measures about 30foot from tongue to bumper. I am using an eaz-lift weight distribution hitch installed and set up by the camper dealer. I noticed on our trip home from the dealer that there was a good bit of sway while towing into or catching a cross wind. I am looking for a good suggestion for quality sway control for both sides of my travel trailer.

The Curt Friction Sway Control part # 17200 that you referenced would be an excellent choice for your trailer. Since it is longer than 26 feet you would want to run a unit on either side of your trailer.
The best way to fight sway is proper trailer loading though. Sway is usually caused by having too much or too little tongue weight on the trailer. If you can get your tongue weight to be between 10 and 15 percent of the total trailer weight the trailer shouldn't sway under normal circumstances.
