It sounds like your trailer has been wired with 2 of the 7-way connector functions using the same color wire. If this is a new trailer you may want to ask the prior owner or dealer if the wiring has been modified.
You can use a 12V power source like a battery and also use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test the wire functions on the trailer to find out what each of the wires are used for. I have attached a helpful article that shows what the typical wiring and colors are.
