Is this model recommended for the rear of a camper/RV?

No, none of the Thule bike racks are rated for use at the back of an RV or trailer but we do have numerous bike carriers that you can use. For a 4-bike platform style rack that is rated for use at the back of an RV or trailer you can use the Swagman XP, # S64940.
