Question:

My truck is factory wired with the 7 and 4 pin trailer harness. Do I need any other parts besides the trailer brake controller and harness included?

Since your 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 already has what is called a factory tow package, all you will need is the Draw-Tite Brake Controller, part # 5504, that you have referenced and the Tekonsha Wire Replacement for Dodge, part # 3020-P. The # 3020-P harness will plug into the back of the brake controller and the plug on the other end will plug into the factory brake controller port located under the dash, above the emergency brake pedal.

I have also included a video installation of a proportional brake controller. You might find that a proportional brake controller, like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, # 90195, is better suited for you because of its smoother and more seamless operation of the vehicle and trailer brakes. I have included the installation details for this brake controller below.
