Question:
Hello, I am thinking of purchasing the following to mount 3 or 4 kayaks on my 2004 Jeep Liberty. I just want to make sure these are correct before purchase. My liberty already has the side roof rack bars, just no cross bar. So will the following work with my Jeep? Stacker Roof Mounted Kayak Carrier System, TH830 do I need anything else? Thank you for your help.

The recommended square bar roof rack for your 2004 Jeep Liberty with factory side rails uses 65-inch crossbars, part # MPG203 from Malone. I have linked an installation video showing below that you can take a look at. This rack includes locks and has a 165-lb weight capacity.
The Thule Stacker Roof Mounted Multi Kayak Carrier System # TH830 is fully compatible with this rack and requires no additional components, but I do suggest the Telesteps step # TE97FR which gives you easier access to the roof. A review video on the Stacker is provided also.
I suggest you check your Liberty owner's manual for any information about its roof weight capacity to ensure the combined weight of your kayaks plus the weight of the roof rack and Stacker, do not exceed its capacity.
Do note that there is a lower cost option for transporting two kayaks. A foam block carrier like the Malone # MPG152 can be used without having to install a roof rack. These foam carriers are low in cost, low in weight and leave your car unchanged unless you happen to be transporting the kayaks. I have included a link to our main page for these carriers. All include straps to secure the kayaks.
