If the Firestone system in your truck has the gauge in the cab that has a button or lever then it is that button or lever that will allow you to add or remove air from the air bags. That type of gauge indicates there should be an on-board compressor that adds or removes air from the bags.
But it could also mean that the previous owner just wanted a gauge and the add/fill feature is not active and there is no compressor. The easiest way to determine if there is a compressor is to look under the truck and follow the air lines from the bags to where they terminate.
If they terminate at a couple of Schrader valves then you would manually put air in using an external compressor like one you might find at a gas station (if you don't have your own).
If they terminate at a compressor and that compressor is not turning on with the button/lever on the gauge then there is likely an electrical problem or something wrong with the compressor.
the Firestone compressor systems are called Level Command kits like # F2158. Some replacement parts are available but I would need to know the kit that is being used if present on the truck. I have included a couple of helpful links on Firestone air bag systems for you.
