Increasing Fuel Tank Protection on 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question:

Looking for Protection for a 2001 Grand Cherokee back end due to the fuel tank located between the rear axle and the lack of bumper area with a semi exposed fuel tank due to high vehicle read end height. Do you or anyone sell something that mounts a little lower as in frame mount with steel 1/2inch + steel plate 3foot wide that s down then angles back partially under front of fuel tank or like my square tube 1992 chevy full size blazer tow hitch that i could attatch a secondary tube bumper to the receiver?

Chrysler's solution to increasing the protection of the fuel tank on the Jeep Grand Cherokee was to install a trailer hitch. I have included a link to all of the hitch receivers available for your 2001.

My personal recommendation is to go with a Class III hitch like the Curt, # 13051. A Class III hitch not only gives you the added towing capacity but by having the 2" opening you increase your options when it comes to hitch mounted accessories.
