Installing a Trailer Hitch on a 2015 Lexus RX 350 F Sport

Question:

Hello, Following the a note about the sway bar needing to be removed and relocated by attaching it to the hitch. However, the installation video does not show this detail. Can you provide additional instructions on how this is done? Expert Reply: When installing the Curt Class III hitch, part # C13143 on a 2015 Lexus RX 350 F Sport, there are no exhaust modifications required. However, there is a rear support or sway bar that needs to be removed and relocated by attaching it to the hitch. The fascia under the bumper will also need to be trimmed

It is actually very easy to remove that bar and install the hitch then reattach the bar to the hitch. I have included a picture from the instructions for trailer hitch # C13143 (as well as a link to the instructions). It is as simple as unbolting it and then reattaching it to the hitch using the same hardware. This step is only done on F Sport models which is why it is not in the video.

If you plan on doing some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
