One option for a hitch receiver that has been confirmed to fit a 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 with standard bumper is the Curt Class IV Custom Fit 2" Hitch Receiver, # C14332. This hitch offers bolt-on installation with no drilling or welding required.

I spoke with my technical contact at Curt and part # 15511 is designed for the 1988 to present Cab & Chassis models and part # 15513, which has since been discontinued, was designed for the 2001 thru 2010 Silverado/Sierra 2500 and 3500 8 ft bed with 10" step bumper so neither would work for your pickup.
