Question:

Will the Ctek mxs5.0 be capable of charging and maintain two 12volt batteries simultaneously whilst away on holiday for say 2-3 weeks?

Expert Reply:

You can charge 2 batteries when they are connected in parallel using a battery charger such as # 329-GENIUS5. However, it will take longer to charge the batteries when they are connected compared to if you were to charge each one separately. And the first battery will get hot. But once charged the charger will go into maintenance mode so it will not overcharge the batteries.

The best battery charger to use for charging batteries in parallel would be # CTEK56353. It has a higher amperage output and will charge faster. I have included a link to our FAQ article on battery chargers for you.

Before going away on holiday I would make sure that the batteries are charged and that the charger is in pulse maintenance mode.
