Question:
I viewed the video on the installation of this hitch. on the video the instructions required cutting the bumper but pictures of the installed hitch indicate the hitch sits just below the bumper I believe the latter is the case but wanted to be sure thanks

Per the attached instructions and also as shown in the video at the 1 minute 43 second mark, the rear fascia needs to be marked to accommodate the installation of the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # C13172 on your 2014 Jeep Cherokee. At the 4 minute 14 second mark of the video, the final measurement is taken before trimming the fascia.
This is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2 inch receiver opening.
If you plan on doing some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If you intend to use the hitch for carrying accessories like bike racks or cargo carriers, I have attached a couple of links to some of the products that may work for you. If you have any specific items in mind just let me know and I will be happy to make some recommendations that will work for you.
