Recommended Base Plates For 2012 Toyota Tacoma

Updated 01/02/2015 | Published 01/01/2015

Question:

sorry to bug you again but I am now looking at the tow bar RM 520, hitch coupled, instead of the 521. From what I read, hitch coupled is more secure and stable? Now, which base plate is recommended for the 520, will either the 1175-1 or the 1175-3 work, and which of the two do you recommend? Which one requires less drilling or are they both the same in this regard? thanks and happy 2015!

It is no bother at all. We are happy to answer the questions you have and want to make sure you get the items that work best for you. Both of the base plates, part # 1175-1, and part # 1175-3 are designed to fit your 2012 Toyota Tacoma.

Both of the base plates will work with the RoadMaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar, part # RM-520, and both require the same amount of drilling for installation.

I recommend using the # 1175-1 base plates. The # 1175-1 requires the crossbar to be used on the Falcon 2 towbar which will add a bit more stability when towing your Tacoma.

I have attached a link to a product review video for the Falcon Towbar you can check out. I have also attached a couple of helpful articles about flat-towing you can take a look at.
