Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and today we're taking a look at the CIPA mirror. This is going to be a universal mount mirror so it can be used for the driver or passenger side and it's going to help to give you a wider field of view than your standard mirror on your vehicle. So typically going to be used in towing applications to make sure that you're going to eliminate any kind of blind spots. You can change lanes effectively, backup and hook up to your trailer and make all the necessary maneuvers that you need to and see where you're going. So this is going to be a pretty straightforward mounting mirror.It does require some modification to your vehicle.
You will have to drill three holes to get the harbor in place or put three screws in place, at least on the outside. And then it does have some anchors to go on the inside. So you do need to get access to the inside of your door or wherever you're mounting this to to make sure that it's anchored in properly. Comes with that hardware to do that. We'll just have this little plastic piece that's going to be the anchor.
We'll have our screw and a lock washer as well.The brackets for this are going to be a stainless steel, so you shouldn't have to worry about any rusting with these over time. The mirror face, the housing, is going to be a chrome mirror. It's just going to be a plastic head. So at least that's what it feels like. They don't really tell you what it's made of, but just from my observation and from the sound honestly.
Sounds like plastic to me. The brackets are real metal though. And as far as adjusting the angle on our mirror, you can flip it out to the side, adjust the angle on the head. If we flip it around to the back again, you might notice that there's a bit of an offset to that pivot point. So if you want it in a more low position like this, you can have it like this or if you can, you can flip it around to the other side and now it's more of a high position.So it kind of depends on your setup.
You just want to know that, depending on if you have it on the driver's side or passenger side to effectively do that, you might have to remove that hardware to make that adjustment from the low to high position.As far as measurements go, it's going to. let's get a little closer there. The mirror face is going to be 10 and a half inches tall by. 10 and a half inches tall up to the outside of that housing, and then about seven and a half inches across. The extension out from our vehicle is going to be about 12 inches. Although whenever I have this flat against the surface that it's mounted to, it should be closer to about six inches if this will extend out. So you can flatten it to make it a bit more compact and keep your mirror from getting knocked off on a narrow street. Or if you're parking in a garage or any other close quarter situation.The glass is going to be just a flat glass design. So it's going to give you a true representation of what's going on behind you. No distortion there. So pretty easy, straight forward, as I mentioned, and should give you a better field of view so you can see what's going on.It has a one year limited warranty and that's about going to do it for our look at the CIPA universal door mounted towing mirror. It is a very nice mirror the only thing I didnt like is I had to drill into my door to mount them but other than that I would recommend
Product was a direct fit, on time and exactly as described. A couple minutes and I had new mirrors for my trip! I also liked the shipping information, it was detailed down to who picked the parts and when.
The mirrors look great and like original equipment, but vibrate horribly at freeway speeds no matter how tight I make every connection. I thinkit is because the top support bar and the mirror head are hollow and not heavy solid stock like the factory ones. I have made modifications that help, but have not cured it yet.
