It was a cake walk to install the DZ43204 tail gate dampening device. After installing the bottom plate I went to work on the top plate. Didn't bother disconnecting the cable just unscrewed the bolt (M5 thorax) added the top damper plate reinserted the bolt with cable then snapped on the damper. Done! less than 15 minutes. The Mylar wasn't needed since there was plenty of clearance between the damper, gate, and truck bed. The wife will enjoy using the tailgate without manhandling it.
We've had this tailgate assist for a year now and it works just as good today as when we installed it. Great for the wife as the tailgate is way bigger than her so it doesn't knock her over. Second truck we've had one of these on and still love it.
Product was easy to install as advertised. Product is more for preventing the tailgate from slamming down but it does give a little assistance with closing. The instructions say nothing about the small squeeze bottle of blue liquid so I didn’t use it. Liquid was not listed in the package contents.
Does exactly as it says. The third one I’ve had. A beautiful thing and simple to install.
I don't use the tail gate very often, but so far it not failed to work very well. I have recommend it my son and to friends. Thanks to your company for a great product and to E-trailed for great service.
Got this as a gift for my brother in law. We installed it in about 15 minutes. Tailgate is now a soft close works great and as far as I know he hasn't had any issues with it.
This Deezee Tailgate Assist is a fantastic addition to my F150. It has worked perfectly since installation. I had previously owned a few Ram trucks on which I had also installed this product. I liked them so much I purchased one for my best buddy. Great product. Easy installation process.
There should be standard on all pick ups. These are awesome. Really help with the tailgate banging as it drops and supported.

I use my tailgate daily. The assist Still works like the day I installed it on my tailgate. Several people that have seen how it works ordered one for their tailgates.
Works great. Took about ten minutes to install.
The product arrived when it was promised. It was very easy to install. It took me 25 minutes from the time I began to open the package to the time the install was complete. And that includes being interrupted by 2 phone calls! It works great. Another great experience with etrailer.com.

One year follow up with 2014 f150 dee zee tailgate assist so i love the actually assist shock its very good well built. As far as the nutsert that crimps into tailgate hole is bending an loose i think that could of used better design when tailgate is open allway shock moves all around cause bottom mount nut sert is junk ive never put weight on opened tailgate i knew better so it bent an came loose from tailgate weight.
Works great. I can open my tailgate now with one hand while I'm holding on to whatever it is I'm loading. Should be standard equipment on all pickups. I highly recommend it. And etrailer is the go to source for everything; great products, great service, fast shipping and helpful people should you have any questions.
Great product,so easy to install even I had no problem. The tailgate lowers with ease and my wife has no problem using one hand to open and lower the gate. A quality product, easy to install, looks great and reduces the chance of a dropped tailgate.

Yes its been a year since installing the tailgate assist and it works fine , I can let the tailgate go and it handles the weight just fine. Love it!
One year in and our tailgate assist is working flawlessly. It was easy to install. Just as the installation video indicated. My FAVORITE thing about ordering from Etrailer.com is are your fantastic and detailed installation and overview videos. We are very happy with this product and would order again. For us, it has worked perfectly in the year we have used it.

One year latter and the tailgate still comes down slow. Still works as good as it did when I istalled it a Year ago.
Installed in 10 minutes max. However, it is an assist only. You cannot just let the tailgate go. I was looking for something a little beefier. It would probably help to have one on each side, but the instructions specifically say to install it on the drivers side.

Purchased the tailgate assist for my F150 installed in about 10 minutes, I was so impressed I ordered one the next day for my brother for his birthday.
Never let that heavy tailgate drop again. Great product.
Great product
Went in fast and Works awsome. Avoids the slam of the tailgate. I hate how the talegate slams down. All cured now and I don't even have to hold on.

Still loving this. No more slam when I open the tailgate. No matter how cold it gets.
As installed the lowering assist is at a very steep angle. The tailgate is very heavy.
I question if it will last a couple of years. Why not have one on each side of the tailgate

Very good, easy to install, holds up well
