Hello, neighbors and friends. Welcome back. I'm Steven with etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the Replacement Lever for the Thule Big Mouth and Doubletrack bike carriers. So again, this is gonna replace one cam-action lever for your Thule Big Mouth Roof Mounted Bike Carrier and the Thule Doubletrack Bike Carrier. Now this will work with a barrel nut, L-clamp, and T-bolt.
Those are sold separately. With all those parts, you will create a mounting mechanism for your bike rack. Now again, this is just a simple replacement part. Generally, you probably already have those L brackets, the L-clamp, the T-bolt, and the barrel nut, because the plastic broke or whatnot. But if you don't, we sell those separately on the website as well at etrailer.com.
Very, very simple, heavy duty plastic. It clamps your bike rack mounting hardware to your roof rack load bars. So again, very simple part, very simple operation. If you've ever used Thule, you know they make great products. This is a Thule direct part, so you can be a hundred percent sure it's gonna work with the Thule Big Mouth and Doubletrack bike carriers.

I was surprised to be able to find it because my bike rack is ~20 yrs old. Thank you.

Good replacement parts! I bought a used Thule big mouth roof rack that was missing parts and etrailer had just what I needed and was very helpful! The parts seem to be holding up quite well after one year of use too. I will be back if and when I meed more parts!
I ordered some of these levers to replace two of the original ones on my Thule 599 upright carrier (predates the 599xt and 599xtr uprights) when installing the XADAPT2 (which came with only one for the back plate). This lever is easier to clamp down. You don't have make full 360 degree turns as you seek the right clamping pressure like the earlier design. This is especially helpful because the XADAPT2 spacers add enough shim height that the clamp is either too tight or too loose. With the 180 degree turns you can get the right amount of clamping force without risking damage to the Aeroblade bars.
This replacement tray for our Thule Doubletrack hitch rack is a perfect fit and looks identical to the lost original. Also got the new lever (853-3508), barrel nut (853-0446), and carriage bolt (915-066-31). From now on we'll be closing the lever lined up against the rack rails as shown so that it can't accidentally get flipped up and spin itself off in the wind (I'm assuming that's how we lost it, I'd hate to think it was stolen!). It is the exact part lost from my Thule 990XT Doubletrack Bike Rack. Easy install. I purchased the barrel nut and it fits this lever and my remaining bolt perfectly.

Received the parts after an incredibly long wait, however, was not due to eTrailer, but to a delay from manufacturer.

I needed to order a new wheel tray for my Thule Doubletrack bike rack, and etrailer’s website was an excellent place to do it. Not only did they have everything that I needed, the website had easily accessible info on the related parts (lever, nut, and bolt) that needed to be ordered with it. It shipped out and I received it in the timeframe expected. I will definitely be going back to etrailer when needed.

They have obscure little parts. Ordering is easy and good check out and shipping. Should be your go-to for roof rack, hitch, whatever. Just do it and don’t worry about it.

SO GLAD etrailer.com carried this part! Couldn't get it on the Thule website even though the bike trailer was only a few years old. It fell off at some point when the bolt came loose. This replacement is identical, fit perfectly -

These were perfect replacement for the levers that broke off of the barrel nut on my bike. These make it so much easier to unscrew the nut and adjust the tire mounts on my bike rack.
