Detail K2 Plow Length

The Detail K2 snowplow conveniently slides into your vehicle's front-mounted trailer hitch for fast, simple mounting. Easily raise and lower the plow from the comfort of your cab with the remote-controlled electric winch. The pivoting blade makes this plow ideal for rocky or uneven surfaces because it can adjust to the terrain.

Simple, Hitch-Mounted Installation

This hitch-mounted snowplow simply slides into your vehicle's front trailer hitch receiver, making it a breeze to install. A plow that attaches to custom-fit brackets ties you down to just 1 vehicle. But this hitch-mounted plow can be used on most trucks or SUVs with a 2" x 2" front-mounted hitch. As a result, this plow can be easily switched between multiple vehicles. And because it offers a nearly universal fit, you won't have to buy a new plow when you replace your old vehicle.

Detail K2 Hitch Mount

To install the snowplow, just slide the shank of the plow assembly into your 2" trailer hitch receiver (sold separately). Then use a pin and clip or a hitch lock (sold separately) to secure the plow in the receiver.

Detail K2 Caster Wheel

The snowplow comes with flip-down caster wheels that make the installation process even easier on you. Simply flip the wheels into position and you will be able to roll the plow into position for mounting or storage. The height of the wheels can also be adjusted to match the height of your vehicle.

How to Plow

Detail K2 Adjustable Plow Position

Once the plow is mounted on your vehicle, lower the blade and set it to the desired angle. To set the angle, exit the vehicle and manually position the plow straight ahead, to the left, or to the right. Angling the blade allows you to push snow off to the side where you want it without having to change the angle of your entire vehicle. This is especially useful on a driveway or a private roadway where piling the snow straight ahead would create a barrier.

Detail K2 Wireless Remote 2.4Ghz

The plow comes with a wireless remote that allows you to stay warm and out of the elements while still effectively controlling the plow. The remote operates on a 2.4 GHz frequency, allowing it to quickly send signals to the winch without experiencing delays. And because it's wireless, you won't have to run wires through your dash. Nor will you have to leave your window cracked open in the middle of a snow storm just so that you can run a wired remote into your cab. You will be glad to have it on those cold winter days.

To begin plowing, just drive forward. When backing up to take another pass, be sure to lift the plow with the remote, then lower it again before moving forward. When approaching a large pile of snow, be sure to decrease your speed. Slamming into a pile of snow can void the warranty on the snowplow.

When you are finished, put your vehicle in park and lower the plow. Remove the plow from your vehicle after every use.

Easy Lifting with Electric Winch

Detail K2 Electric Winch

The electric winch on this plow allows you to easily lift and lower the blade using the wireless remote control. If you prefer, you can also install the included in-cab toggle switch to control the plow. The winch uses a durable strap, which is much quieter than a chain, to raise and lower the plow.

Detail K2 Features

Detail K2 Skid Shoes

The snowplow features skid shoes that allow you to adjust the height of your plow. This allows you to efficiently plow over surfaces that are uneven, such as gravel roads.

Detail K2 Blade Stiffener

Blade stiffeners, or blade support brackets, reinforce the connection between the plow and your vehicle. They add 2 additional points of contact with your hitch on either side of the plow's T-frame. This prevents stress on the frame and on your vehicle, while also strengthening the performance of the plow.

Detail K2 Trip Springs

Shock-absorbing springs allow the plow to dip forward in the event that you hit an obstruction. This flexibility protects you and your vehicle from impacts.

2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Decent plow for the price.

I installed
this DK2 Avalanche on a 2003 GMC Yukon 1500 with a Curt front receiver hitch 31302. If you have a side mount battery, you may need battery bolt extenders (Battery Doctor #30400) to make life easier. That said, the ring terminal connectors on the winch control box will be too small. Get ones that will fit the 3/8 inch stud and 12-10 AWG wire to replace the stock ones.

Manufacturer instructions are not very helpful, but Graz's Garage has a great install video on YouTube. He installed his on a 2020 Chevy Colorado Z71. You can always count on a gearhead from Detroit. eTrailer is awesome at responding to concerns, too, and I'm glad I bought this product from them.

I went with this hitch since I have an after market front bumper. I wasn’t sure if it was going to fit but since this hitch was a bolted connection it gave me 2 options to have a chance it would fit. One I received the package the box was damaged but all the hardware had been taken to the hitch, so everything was there. I installed the hitch by myself and took me about 2 hours but that was due to the aftermarket bumper and dealing with that hardware at the same time otherwise the install went smooth. Tha last phot is to show this hitch worked with this bumper.

by: Dan06/10/2021

Mounted this hitch about a year ago and really like it. We pull a fifth wheel camper so this affords us the ability to haul our bikes or kayaks(tall T stand) up front. Was easy to install and looks good to boot.

We love it! Great solution.

by: Scott12/13/2019

Great Front Hitch.
Installed in the
upper position so I have plenty of ground clearance. Everything needed to install was supplied, they even supplied a very handy wire snake tool for installing the bolts in the frame, this made the install easy.

The hitch works great! I use it for pushing my camper into its tight parking spot next to my garage, wouldn’t be able to get it there with out it. Also use it to put a bike rack on the front of the truck when pulling the camper.

2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Very Pleased with this Front Mount Hitch I installed on my 2016 F250 Super Duty.

EVERYTHING fit prefect and installation was straight forward.

I did this install myself (1 person), If you take your time, work smart, it is very doable for anyone that can turn wrenches.

Once the side brackets were bolted to the frame, I used a floor Jack to lift the roll & hitch into place. This makes it an easy 1 person job.

I wanted the Hitch in the "upper" position and a nice clean look, so instead of just notching the air dam as is suggested, I took my time and cut a square that allowed the hitch to pass thru from behind. The end result is an install that looks like it was designed to be there.

Also I placed painters tape on the air dam so I could use a black sharpie to mark up my opening and easily redo if needed. And yes I redid it a few times till I was satisfied with the planned location.

Lastly i was able to drill a hole in all 4 corners of my desired opening and then used a utility knife with a new blade to cut out the opening. Took my time and the results were worth the effort. I have and could have used a rotary tool, yet feel I have better control with a sharp knife.

Suggest watching the On-Line Install Video prior to getting started.
2012 install Video was the exact procedure for my 2016.

Working alone with no air tools, planning out the air dam opening location, and just taking my time, it took about 2.5 hours to complete the install......

2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty

This item is everything it's claimed to be. Very well designed, great finish and perfect fit. Installation is easy (for one person) however I recommend watching the installation video for the "Tech Tips" which proved very useful. In the video the truck is on a lift which is ideal, however when working on the ground, space is limited when using a long handle torque wrench.
A couple additional tips I found useful are:
First, drive onto ramps for the extra clearance when using the torque wrench.
When re-using the factory nuts and bolts (18-mm in used front two holes of frame) use 2 of the supplied fishing wires together on the bolts; this keeps them from falling away from the frame while lining them up.
Use an 18-mm ratcheted box wrench to remove the inner bolts on the passenger side of the frame when removing factory tie-down brackets
For the receiver extending thru the air dam I wanted it to extend thru a hole and not cut out a notch for a factory look. I covered the area with blue painters tape. I measured up from the bottom 4" and marked the tape; took a straight edge and marked tape up from the sides of the receiver tube to mark a 3" square.
Next I outlined the 3" square with green painters tape to outline the cut-out area. I used a sharp utility knife to make the cut. Take your time and it cuts very easily. (save the cutout plastic)
After installing receiver you can trim the saved cutout to fill in any opening at the bottom. I used with JB Weld to glue the trimmed piece back into place.
Install a receiver cover for a clean finished look.
All this took 2.5 hours without any extra hands.
Thanks etrailer.com!

2014 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

2014 F-250 FX4. Ordered this hitch on Friday, and received it on Tuesday. Instructions were simple, it took less that 2 hours to install. It made backing my boat around a corner and into my carport easier than I had hoped. I shoulda installed a front-end hitch a long time ago. My initial concern was losing ground clearance, but the brackets only extend below the air dam by about 1/2".

by: Steve Miller01/13/2021

My plow was delivered quickly. It took a bit longer to assemble than I thought it would, but it seems pretty heavy duty and looks and works great for my 600' long driveway. It's much better and quicker than plowing with my 4 wheeler and warmer too.

2011 Ford F-350 Super Duty

This fit perfect and e-trailer’s video was easy to follow for the install. Did it myself in a couple hours. Just used a block of wood to help hold up the center section when I was installing it. Installed in the higher position so had to cut a hole in the plastic trim. 2011 f350 crew cab 4x4.

by: Mason 12/12/2023

This hitch fit my truck perfectly and was easy to install. I use it for a front mounted e-bike rack and have no complaints.

by: Doug 01/08/2024

Great fit. Easy installation. I use it all the time for winch and Motorcycle hitch carrier.

2014 Ford F-350 Super Duty

Exactly what we needed. I ordered this with a short timeline before we were headed out on a big family road trip with our ebikes. We used this to hold the Hollywood Ebike rack in front of our F350. Perfect Fit! This item just barely made it and George J at e trailer made it happen! Thank you from my whole family! This was straight forward to install, the videos are what make it so! and the unit is strong and compact. You almost don't know its there when not in use, exactly as I hoped. The customer service was amazing! I WILL BE BACK to buy from this company,(as I have many times before) they know what it means to take care of a customer. Thank you!

2015 Ford F-350 Super Duty

Fit my 2015 Ford F350 perfect. Holds my bike rack so the bikes can go with me when the slide -in camper is on the truck. Mounted with the high mount and cut the cowling for the hitch to fit through. Had to work at tightening the nuts with the torque wrench in the limited work area under the truck. This is the second truck I have put a front receiver hitch on.

10/5/2014

Did you have to remove the air dam? I have a 2015 f250 2wd.Looks like the Curt mounts lower than the Reese model. Thanks!

Dave C.

10/7/2014

I did not remove anything. My truck is 4WD which might make a difference. I mounted the hitch against the front cowling and cut it out with the hitch pressing against the plastic cowling, afterword. I didnt start out to do that, it just seemed to work after tightening the bolts enough to see where the hole was going to be.

by: Walt 11/08/2022

My Curt front mount hitch arrived today and as expected, it is build solid. I’m waiting on weather to install but from the instructions installation seems to be very straight forward as are all the products I buy from etrailer. I value the instructional videos and help from their account managers as much as I do their products.

2014 Ford F-350 Super Duty

So far, so good. Very easy to install. My buddy and I did it in under one hour. Put it in the lower position on my F350 and didn’t need to cut the air dam. Using it to carry my Honda Trail 110 when camping in the 5th wheel. Shipping was supposed to take about 7 days. Arrived in 3 days!!! Super happy with that.

by: Will 11/12/2022

Plow seems to be of good quality, wont know till I actually use it, how good it is. Seems sturdy enough to do the job, assembly was very straight forward.
My only complaint is etrailer left me dangling for a month with no updates on my order status, even after chatting with one of their customer service people.
I ended up contacting DK2 to get a ship date.

2012 Ford F-250 Super Duty

The C31018 front hitch for my Ford F-250 fit perfectly. The instructions were clear and brief and the hitch went on without a HITCH. I did not have to remove the front fascia whchi saved me sometime and avoided damaging the mounting hardare Unfortunately the installation of the Curt spare tire carrier C31006 did not meet my satisfaction at all. I intended to mount a bran new spare tire with the Alclad finished and King Ranch Logo but could not due to the improper design for my Ford F-250. I ended up using my steel spare tire with the inward side out and the addition of self fabricated would spacer. I had to settle for an ugly appearing spare tire that hangs out front at an awful angle. I expected that the Cure Spare tire mount would be designed to Fit.. Included are a few picture of what I hoped to have and what I ended up with. If you have a spacer available to mount my original chrome clad spare tire with the clad side facing forward, I would very much getting some information on that device. The poor rating is for the spare tire mount. The front hithc was excellent.

2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Can’t beat the Curt’s brand, always top of the line and made in the USA putting Americans to work. Sure it a few dollars more but no comparison to the cheaper China crap. Which do you want to put your trailer or anything else behind or in front of your truck? Comes with grade 8 bolts and detailed instructions. Took about a hour to put on and I didn’t pull out the impact, hardest part is cutting the plastic front air dam so it looks good and not like a 3 year old did it - just caulk around it with black adhesive silicone to get a nice look when your done. (2016 f250 perfect fit)

Easy to mount. It my wife and me less than an hour to install it in the driveway with hand tools.

by: Andrew 09/20/2021

Appears to be good quality. Hitch came with hardware to mount below air dam. If I were to do it again I’d mount it higher and cut the air dam.

by: Marc 08/22/2022

Easy instructions and easy to install. End result is amazing we put one of our pretty sizable Ebikes on the front and one on the back

  • Can Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Be Installed Higher on a 2013 Ford F-250 Super Duty
  • Draw-Tite front mount trailer hitch # 65049 can only be mounted one way on a 2013 Ford F-250. The side brackets are welded on to the cross member so it will only go on one way. I have linked the instructions and a video showing installation for you. On Curt front hitch # C31018 the side brackets bolts to the cross member. If you bolts the cross member on with the receiver on top it will exit the vehicle at a different position, just like you said. Page 3 of the instructions, linked for

  • Will the Curt Front Hitch for a 2014 Ford F-350 Work With Bike Rack
  • The Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C31018 is a great option for a 2014 Ford F-350. It is recessed behind the bumper by a few inches but not so much so that I think you would have any issues with bike racks in the in-use position. Whether or not they could be folded would be a different story but at that point you'd be blocking headlight visibility and airflow to the radiator so not really something I'd recommend. Unfortunately, we don't have any measurements for the Curt

  • The correct Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver for a 2015 Ford F-250 is part # C31018. We do not offer any replacements brackets for this hitch unfortunately. The hitch is a custom fit and is not cross-compatible with other make, models, and years.

Draw-Tite front mount hitch # 65049 will fit both 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive models (minor fascia trimming required for installation on 4 wheel drive models). • Cross Tube Won't Fit Between Frame Brackets on Front Hitch C31018 on a 2016 Ford F-350
  • If you have already tightened the hardware holding the front mount hitch # C31018 side brackets to the frame then that is probably why there isn't enough space for the cross tube and receiver part of the hitch. If it is loosely installed then there is wiggle room. Even if you just loosened up one side it would make it easier. Once everything is in place and your torque the hardware to the specifications in the instructions everything should fit nice and snug.

  • Front Mount Receiver and Snow Plow for a 2016 Ford F-250 4x4
  • For your 2016 Ford F-250 4x4 I recommend Curt front mount receiver hitch # C31018. This hitch can be mounted in a high or low position. If mounted in the high position there is some trimming required so you can access the receiver. No trimming is required for the low position and the receiver will be below the front air dam. I have linked a video showing an example installation for you. For a snow plow a popular option is the K2 Elite Snowplow # K2AVAL8219ELT. This plow is 82 inches

  • Can Bike Racks Install in Front Hitches of Vehicles
  • That we are aware of no...there aren't any states that have laws against carrying bikes in front hitches like the Curt # C31018 that you referenced. Typically if you contact a DOT or highway patrol agency they'll tell you that as long as you don't obstruct the license plate and headlights there's no reason you couldn't do it. You might check with highway patrols in areas you plan to travel though.

  • Fascia Trimming When Installing Curt Front Mount Hitch # C31018 On 2015 Ford F-350
  • The Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # C31018 is confirmed to fit your 2015 Ford F-350 if you have the 4WD model. The hitch center section can be installed in either a raised or lowered position. If you mount it in the lowered position, the receiver will rest below the front fascia and won't require any trimming or modification. If you want to mount it in the raised position, this will require that a section of fascia be removed for the receiver to protrude through. If you plan

  • Front Mount Hitch Receiver for a 2015 Ford F-350 4x4
  • There are bound to be some slight differences amongst the year vehicles that Curt front receiver # C31018 fits. The truck in the video, linked for reference, is a 2012 so there have been some design changes between then and the 2015 models. But the hitch does fit the 2015 Ford F-350 4x4s. Another option is Draw-Tite hitch # 65049. It has a different design than the Curt hitch. You can compare the installations because I have linked a video showing how the Draw-Tite hitch installs as

  • Is Bumper Trimming Required to Install a Front Mount Receiver on a 2015 Ford F-250

  • Can a Front Mount Trailer Hitch be Used to Carry Bikes
  • You can use a front mount hitch such as # C31018 for a bike carrier. But there are a few things you will need to be aware of. When the bikes are loaded on the carrier they can reduce driver visibility and somewhat restrict airflow to the motor. In some cases they can also block the front lights on the vehicle. Reduced visibility and airflow to the motor probably will not be an issue in most cases. But if the lights are blocked you would have to remove the wheels on the bikes.
