Detail K2 Plow Length

The Detail K2 snowplow conveniently slides into your vehicle's front-mounted trailer hitch for fast, simple mounting. Easily raise and lower the plow from the comfort of your cab with the remote-controlled electric winch. The pivoting blade makes this plow ideal for rocky or uneven surfaces because it can adjust to the terrain.

Simple, Hitch-Mounted Installation

This hitch-mounted snowplow simply slides into your vehicle's front trailer hitch receiver, making it a breeze to install. A plow that attaches to custom-fit brackets ties you down to just 1 vehicle. But this hitch-mounted plow can be used on most trucks or SUVs with a 2" x 2" front-mounted hitch. As a result, this plow can be easily switched between multiple vehicles. And because it offers a nearly universal fit, you won't have to buy a new plow when you replace your old vehicle.

Detail K2 Hitch Mount

To install the snowplow, just slide the shank of the plow assembly into your 2" trailer hitch receiver (sold separately). Then use a pin and clip or a hitch lock (sold separately) to secure the plow in the receiver.

Detail K2 Caster Wheel

The snowplow comes with flip-down caster wheels that make the installation process even easier on you. Simply flip the wheels into position and you will be able to roll the plow into position for mounting or storage. The height of the wheels can also be adjusted to match the height of your vehicle.

How to Plow

Detail K2 Adjustable Plow Position

Once the plow is mounted on your vehicle, lower the blade and set it to the desired angle. To set the angle, exit the vehicle and manually position the plow straight ahead, to the left, or to the right. Angling the blade allows you to push snow off to the side where you want it without having to change the angle of your entire vehicle. This is especially useful on a driveway or a private roadway where piling the snow straight ahead would create a barrier.

Detail K2 Wireless Remote 2.4Ghz

The plow comes with a wireless remote that allows you to stay warm and out of the elements while still effectively controlling the plow. The remote operates on a 2.4 GHz frequency, allowing it to quickly send signals to the winch without experiencing delays. And because it's wireless, you won't have to run wires through your dash. Nor will you have to leave your window cracked open in the middle of a snow storm just so that you can run a wired remote into your cab. You will be glad to have it on those cold winter days.

To begin plowing, just drive forward. When backing up to take another pass, be sure to lift the plow with the remote, then lower it again before moving forward. When approaching a large pile of snow, be sure to decrease your speed. Slamming into a pile of snow can void the warranty on the snowplow.

When you are finished, put your vehicle in park and lower the plow. Remove the plow from your vehicle after every use.

Easy Lifting with Electric Winch

Detail K2 Electric Winch

The electric winch on this plow allows you to easily lift and lower the blade using the wireless remote control. If you prefer, you can also install the included in-cab toggle switch to control the plow. The winch uses a durable strap, which is much quieter than a chain, to raise and lower the plow.

Detail K2 Features

Detail K2 Skid Shoes

The snowplow features skid shoes that allow you to adjust the height of your plow. This allows you to efficiently plow over surfaces that are uneven, such as gravel roads.

Detail K2 Blade Stiffener

Blade stiffeners, or blade support brackets, reinforce the connection between the plow and your vehicle. They add 2 additional points of contact with your hitch on either side of the plow's T-frame. This prevents stress on the frame and on your vehicle, while also strengthening the performance of the plow.

Detail K2 Trip Springs

Shock-absorbing springs allow the plow to dip forward in the event that you hit an obstruction. This flexibility protects you and your vehicle from impacts.

Decent plow for the price.

I installed
this DK2 Avalanche on a 2003 GMC Yukon 1500 with a Curt front receiver hitch 31302. If you have a side mount battery, you may need battery bolt extenders (Battery Doctor #30400) to make life easier. That said, the ring terminal connectors on the winch control box will be too small. Get ones that will fit the 3/8 inch stud and 12-10 AWG wire to replace the stock ones.

Manufacturer instructions are not very helpful, but Graz's Garage has a great install video on YouTube. He installed his on a 2020 Chevy Colorado Z71. You can always count on a gearhead from Detroit. eTrailer is awesome at responding to concerns, too, and I'm glad I bought this product from them.

I finished installing my new front hitch a few weekends ago. All in all I'm very satisfied with the new hitch, primarily as it solved a long standing problem and the right price. The construction and fit of the hitch is excellent. It does take a bit more than an amateur to install however, so below are my comments with photos attached to help the next guy:

1.) Front bolt - The existing hole on the frame it too small to accept the new bolt. This needs to be drilled out (only with a 90 deg. Drill), or replace the existing bolts in the opposite direction...which is what I did, (photo 3).
2.) Middle bolt - The existing frame hole does not align with the hole on the hitch. You need to dry fit it and mark it and cut an approx. 1/2 - 5/8" chip out of the frame.
3.) Rear bolt - Rear bolt ends up with about a 1/4" gap between the frame and hitch. I shimmed the gap and torqued it snug. There's also no way to install the internal washer, without losing your sanity. I eliminated it and used a vise grip on the bolt end as I tighten the nut. Additionally, you have to remove the bumper kicker brace to install this rear bolt. Once the hitch is up, there is again no way to reinstall that kicker brace without disassembling the whole assembly at the bumper. My problem with that was that my existing bolt were old and rusty and probably won't come off or go back on easily. Instead, I fabricated an extension bracket and reassemble that kicker brace just above the new bolt (photo 2).

My plow was delivered quickly. It took a bit longer to assemble than I thought it would, but it seems pretty heavy duty and looks and works great for my 600' long driveway. It's much better and quicker than plowing with my 4 wheeler and warmer too.

by: Josh10/29/2023

2001 2500 sport fit on the frame was perfect with no drilling. Had to notch the cover and metal support at the bottom but would rather that than hang to low.

by: Terri12/21/2023

It's a great plow.works good the winch is a little slow and the remote is slow to respond but all in all it does what I need it to do.

Thanks for the speed sending the front hitch for
my 1997 dodge ram
It only took you
2 days to get it here
and it took me 30 minutes
To install it.
Thank you Nicole R.
And here is a picture of it already on it

by: Will 11/12/2022

Plow seems to be of good quality, wont know till I actually use it, how good it is. Seems sturdy enough to do the job, assembly was very straight forward.
My only complaint is etrailer left me dangling for a month with no updates on my order status, even after chatting with one of their customer service people.
I ended up contacting DK2 to get a ship date.

Fit was spot on, hardware was quality,
The
paint still looks great, I have 10k winch that pins in when I need it

1999 Chevrolet Silverado 3500

Chose this hitch over Draw Tite because I have a Steering Stabilizer plate where the Draw Tite mounts. Curt is good quality and fit but the most tedious hitch I've ever installed and I've done many. Curt video online was helpful. My frame had all the holes in places but the middle ones on both sides were to tight and needed to be drilled larger to allow the bolts attached to the fish wire to pass through. Center bolts and backers are difficult to line up and install. One got stuck and while removing it I lost the backing plate down the frame tube. Bumper bolts need to be removed or loosened and realigned after the hitch is installed. Working alone on the ground it took 2 1/2 hrs to install with some frustration. My truck is a 1999, 3500 4x4 Florida vehicle with NO SEIZED BOLTS, thank God, because 8 had to be removed or loosened. I would have preferred and would have purchased the Draw Tite if not for my special situation but I'm very happy the Curt was available.

Priced below MSRP with free shipping. Quality construction, fit well with minor enlarging of frame holes. Corner braces to front bumper would not fit over the hitch, braces were cut and welded 3/4" shorter and all was well. Install took the better part of 3 hours laying on my back in the carport. I bought this to sometimes mount a Warn winch, and move trailers around the yard.

I must Highly Recommend etrailer for any Truck or Trailer Hitch Parts that You may ever need. I had to replace a Front Hitch Receiver for My 1997 Dodge Ram Pick Up (Snow Plow Attachment). Great product, very high quality in fit and finish. Directions could have been a bit more informative. I realized that I should have lined up the back bumper bracket while installing the back bolt as you can't move the bracket into place after the bolt is through. A note on the directions would have saved me a little time and frustration.

Overall an easy installation and a nice product.

Thanks,

John

Fit real good. Didn’t drill the holes for the third bolt hole that was not drilled. Real happy the way it fit. Took about 3 1/2 hrs. to install. Helped to jack up front end but not necessary. Also put rear hitch on 2013 CR-V that fit perfect too.

I received the hitch this afternoon, which is one day ahead of schedule. I will attempt to install the hitch tomorrow.
All the necessary parts are in the box.
Too early for additional information as I have yet to install the hitch.

Per our product fit guide, the # 31604 isn't compatible with the sport model. The Draw-Tite # 65003 [currently on extended back order] is a fit, but you'd need to trim the front fascia for the receiver tube to pass through.

by: Pat05/31/2015

Choose this product due to the fact that it works with steering stabilizer i have installed on my truck. I was happy about that. I did have a small inteference with the bumper probably due to an accident. The instructions could have been better but overall happy with the product.

Instead I recommend installing a front mounted hitch receiver like the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 31604 in addition to a receiver mounted winch mounting plate like the Bulldog Winch Hitch Mounted Winch Plate part # BDW20061R2.

  • Will Altering Bumper Allow Curt Front Mount Hitch to Fit 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 Sport
  • Yes, cutting the bumper will allow you to install the Curt # 31604 on your 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 Sport. The bumper is the only difference between this and other models so you will be able to bolt it onto the frame. It won't look pretty, but I'm guessing you aren't worried about the appearance and care more about having the functionality.

  • Trailer Hitch for a 1999 Dodge Ram Van to Move a Boat Trailer
  • There are no front mount trailer hitches that will fit the 1999 Dodge Full-Size vans. They are not built on the same platform as the Ram trucks of the same generation so the front mount hitches for the Ram trucks will not fit the Ram Vans. You can install a rear trailer hitch. If your van has the standard bumper then you can use # 13015 (Hitch will not work on models with existing weldnuts on the frame). And if it has the factory step bumper use # 13590.

  • Compatibility of Front Mounted Trailer Hitch and Brush Guard on 1998 Ram Pickup

  • Front Hitch and Plow Recommendation for 1994 Dodge Ram
  • Typically plow mounts and front hitches install in the same are so they can't both install at the same time. Only solution that allows both is to use a front hitch like the part # 31604 with a hitch mounted plow like the SnowSport K2 # K2AVAL8219. I really like this plow though as it's a very simple but effective setup. No wiring or winch install needed.
