Some options bundle an inner garnish and sealant while others are outer-only, so match what your roof needs and verify sealant type—certain polycarbonate units do not use self-leveling sealant.
Some 14" x 22" options are the outer dome only, while kits include an inner garnish and sealant. Verify what's included in the kit contents. If the skylight is polycarbonate and smoke, avoid self-leveling sealant and use the provided sealant.
Measure the roof cutout; it needs to be 14" wide x 22" long. A 1-1/4" thick roof has worked, but you may need to trim the garnish to fit cleanly. For a new install, plan the cutout size and check roof thickness before ordering.
Smoke tint can reduce light and glare compared to clear. For shower headroom, choose a taller dome style. Match the inner garnish profile (flat vs domed) so it doesn't press against the outer dome and interfere with the ceiling fit.
Work slowly removing old sealant to protect the roofing. Trim any melted plastic residue around predrilled holes so the flange seals flat. Check for warped corners before drilling. Reuse existing screws or add a couple for a good fit, and don't over tighten. Lay a solid bead to help prevent leaks.
