Thule SUP Taxi Stand-Up Paddleboard Carrier Review - 2014 Kia Soul

Today on our 2014 Kia Soul. We're going to be test fitting the Thule SUP Taxi. A stand up paddle board carrier with a two board capacity, part number TH810. With our Thule Rapid Reverse Roof rack system already installed on our Soul. We're going to begin our test fit by grabbing the front half of our carrier, and placing it on to our front load bar. We would want the gray levers pointing towards the passenger side, we'll then bring our black rubber coated metal straps around the under side of our load bar and fit it back into the foot of the carrier. We'll then turn the gray from dial, to secure it on to our rack.

Kia Soul Watersport Carriers Questions

  • There is a way for you to carry a pair of (very nice) Vibe Sea Ghost kayaks on the factory roof rack of your 2016 Kia Soul. Before doing so, however, because the kayaks are pushing 75 lbs, you may want to call your local Kia dealer to see if your Soul's roof can handle that much weight. If so, a great solution for you would be the Rhino-Rack Nautic Stack Kayak Carrier # RRS520. It is a clamp-on system that comes with the tie-down straps and bow/stern tie-downs for two kayaks,...

  • For your 2016 Kia Soul with panoramic sunroof, I looked at every option and there is not a roof rack compatible due to the design of the roof. To carry a kayak, you will need to use a foam block style carrier like the Malone Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs - Foam Block Style - 12" Long - 1 Kayak # MPG154. Even using a foam block, you will want to be careful with the placement to support a kayak.

  • Thule does indeed have a confirmed fit for the 2014 Kia Soul with the flush mounted roof rails, but they're only compatible with models that DO NOT have the panoramic sunroof. You can choose from an AeroBlade rack that's more aerodynamic or a square bar rack that's a bit less expensive. For the square bar rack, you'd need the following parts: 50 Inch Square Load Bars, part # THLB50 Podium Foot Pack, part # TH460 Vehicle Specific Fit Kit, part # THKIT4051 If you'd prefer...

  • According to the manufacturer, the Yakima JayLow Kayak Carrier # Y04073 will fit your 2014 Kia Soul with factory roof rack. I recommend getting a second set of Yakima Cinch Straps # Y05006 since the Yakima Carrier only comes with one set. This will enable you to secure a second kayak to the roof of your Kia. Something else that would help protect your Kia and make securing the kayaks easier would be the Quick Loops for Thule Bow/Stern Tie-Downs # TH530. These provide an easy way...

  • I pulled one of the Rhino-Rack J-Style Kayak Carrier, part # S510 from our warehouse and took a measurement for you. I have attached a photo that shows the measurement of the knob and the bottom plate that goes under the crossbars on your 2014 Kia Soul. As noted on the photo, the combined measurement is 1-3/8 inches. If you have more than 1-3/8 inches from the bottom of your crossbar to the roof then these will work well for you.

  • I checked with Yakima and the JayLow kayak carrier part # Y04073 that you referenced is a confirmed fit for the factory crossbars of your 2014 Kia Soul. This would be a great option for carrying 2 kayaks. You would need one carrier per kayak.

  • Yes, the Rhino-Rack J-Style Kayak Carrier, # S512, is one of the best options for you to use with a Rhino-Rack roof rack on your 2011 Kia Soul. If you are also shopping for the roof rack, then I recommend the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero roof rack which consists of the following parts: Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA126S-2 (Silver) or # RRVA126B-2 (Black) 2500 Series Legs # RRRLKVA Custom Fit Kit # DK237 If you plan on carrying more than just 1 kayak, I recommend using the Yakima...

  • The Yakima BigStack Kayak Carrier, # Y04041, is compatible with virtually any roof rack on the market with the exception of some of the oversize crossbars like the Nissan Xterra OEM crossbars. If you are looking for a cost effective roof rack to use with this carrier, then the least expensive option available is the Rhino-Rack Square Bar roof rack which consists of the following parts: 50" Steel Square Euro Crossbars # RREB126B 2500 Series Legs # RRRLKVA Euro Bar Adapter...

  • We do not carry any J-Style carriers that are designed to be used with a surfboard. All of the J-style carriers we offer are designed for kayaks. I recommend the Rhino-Rack SUP and Surfboard Pad, part # RRRWP03. This carrier is designed to work with crossbars that measure up to 1-3/4 inches tall and 3-1/2 inches wide. This system comes with 2 tie-downs that help secure the board to the crossbars. I have attached a link to the surfboard carriers we offer.
