  • Installation Bolts for Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers
  • You will need at least 10 bolts for the Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers # LC279687, and those bolts are the Zinc Shackle Bolt with Locknut for Double-Eye Springs # TRFA73Z916DLNZ. The reason I say "at least" 10 is because you would need additional bolts if you wanted to replace the bolts that attach your leaf springs to your hangers. What I recommend is getting all of the necessary bolts, shackle straps and nuts with one kit that is designed to work with the Equa-Flex, the Lippert Components...

  • Will the B&W Extend-A-Goose Gooseneck Coupler Change Tongue Weight
  • The tongue weight of your trailer or weight on the rear axle will not change substantially when using the B&W Extend-A-Goose Gooseneck Coupler part # BWTEXA4200. The only way that your tongue weight would change is if the weight of the new coupler (55 lbs) was more than that of the old coupler you replaced it with. I confirmed this with my contact at B&W.

  • Does Flicker of Brake Output Circuit on Trailer Wiring Mean There's an Issue
  • The flicker you are seeing on the brake output circuit of your vehicle is normal. Brake controllers will lightly pulse their output circuit to check to see if a trailer is connected due to the amperage draw of the brake magnets. So what this all tells me is that your issue is most likely on the trailer side of the equation. This can be as simple as corrosion on the pins of the trailer wiring connector or it could be damaged wire, bad brake magnets or the grounds of the assemblies having...

  • Trailer Brake Controller Fuse Location on 2014 Ram 2500
  • I took a look at the online version of your 2014 Ram 2500 owner's manual. It looks like there should be a 30 amp pink fuse located in the F11 position inside the power distribution box (under the hood). This particular fuse is for the integrated trailer brake module on the truck. Make sure this fuse is present and in good condition. If the fuse is good or replacing it doesn't resolve the issue, please let me know and we can continue to troubleshoot.

  • Is There Supposed to Be Gap Between Side Plates on Demco Autoslide Locking Plate for Lippert Rhino
  • I spoke to Demco about the Demco Autoslide Locking Plate for Lippert Rhino Pin Boxes part # DM76FR, the side plates are supposed to be angled as that's what provides the clamping force. I would just make sure you have the bolts torqued fully to the amount specificed in the instructions as that may reduce the amount of gap but nonetheless, it's normal.

  • Why Does Valve for the DeeZee Connector Kit 97962 Have to be Closed During Travel on 2016 Ram 2500
  • The reason that the valve on the Connector Kit # DZ97962 would need to be closed with the Auxiliary Tank # DZ91752X installed on your 2016 Ram 2500 is because DeeZee didn't design it to work that way and it may cause check engine alarms to go off. I spoke to my contact at DeeZee who confirmed this. I also asked her if they had heard of any issues with Ram models that don't have the fuel cap filler tube and she said that they haven't heard anything about this. This auxiliary tank is great...

  • What Happens if Cam Handle Safety Pin Isnt Installed on B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch
  • The coupler cam handle safety pin (or appropriately sized padlock) on the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3670 needs to be re-inserted through the cam handle and coupler after the trailer is hooked up and the cam handle itself is completely closed. This ensures that the handle remains in the locked position while towing. I definitely do not recommend leaving the pin/padlock off the hitch with a trailer connected as it's certainly possible (if unlikely) that the handle becomes disengaged...

  • Can Metal be Used During Combination Cooking With Furrion Convection Microwave
  • I reached out to Furrion to try and get a definitive answer and they referred me to the manual of the Furrion Over-the-Range Convection Microwave # FMCM15SS and the section in regards to what can and cannot be used in the different cooking processes. I cut out a portion of the manual which says that no metal can be used during the combination cooking so you will want to remove all metal from this convection microwave before using that process. I have added a link to a review of the Furrion...

  • Connection Indicators on Hopkins # HM48503 7-Way Connector
  • Yes, if you have correctly attached the wires to your Hopkins # HM48503 7-way trailer connector with test lights, then each of the LED indicators will light as the function is used. If the tester light does not light up, then the corresponding light or function on the trailer will not work either. I have attached a video that demonstrates how the wires are connected inside the unit, and shows how the lights come one with each feature. If you would prefer a stand-alone tester you might...

  • Best 5th Wheel Hitch & Towing Capacity of 2018 Ram 2500 Laramie Longhorn With 5th Wheel Prep Package
  • You did not make a mistake at all by purchasing a 2018 Ram 2500 Laramie Longhorn 4x4. In fact, you made a great choice because based on my research your truck, with a Crew Cab, 6.7L Cummins engine, 6'4" bed and 3.42 axle ratio your towing capacity is a bit under 17,300 lbs, which is more than enough to tow a mid-size fifth wheel trailer. The payload capacity of 2,007 lbs you referenced is the capacity you can load in the bed and will be the pin weight (like tongue weight for 5th wheel...

  • How to Raise 5th Wheel Trailer Height to Level Trailer with Taller Truck
  • This is definitely something that has been an issue for newer trucks like your 2022 Ram 2500. Pretty much every truck manufacturer started making their trucks sit a bit higher a few years ago which has really changed the game for 5th wheel towing. If you adjust the pin box for clearance and you find that you also need to raise the height of your trailer then you can do so with a Correct Track kit or Over-Under Conversion kit. You can get by with your 5th wheel being out of level by maybe...

  • Will Nose-High 5th Wheel Trailer Sway During Travel
  • Thanks for all of the info and the research you've already done! Dropping almost 2" from about the point where the king pin connects to the Demco Hijacker 18K # DM69GV or 21K # DM89GV back towards the end of the bed is definitely enough to cause your trailer to sway. A level trailer that is properly loaded will give you the best towing performance. To level things out you have a few choices: 1. Move the pin box up to a higher set of bolt holes 2. Install an Over-Under Kit like part #...

  • How Will Taller Gooseneck Ball Affect Trailer Height on 2018 Ram 2500
  • The B&W ball, part # BWGNXA2062, will sit higher off the truck bed by about 1-1/4 inches when compared to the Curt # C60618. If the B&W's height helps your trailer sit more level then it may improve your set up but that slight difference isn't going to make much impact very often. Although, making the trailer as level as possible is always better.

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Wiring Harness for a 2024 Ram 2500
  • The wiring kit I recommend installing on your 2024 Ram 2500 is the Pollak 5th Wheel / Gooseneck T-Connector # PK11893-11932 which tees in behind the 7-Way at your bumper and installs in your truck bed. I really like the Pollak kit because of how reliable their wiring kits are. Aside from that the installation and looks are pretty much the same kit to kit so I'm recommending based off of reliability. Attached is an installation video of this kit on a 2021 Ram 2500 for you to check out.

  • Can I Cut or Remove the Spacer from the SumoSprings Solo Custom Springs # SSR-312-54?
  • Great question! I went ahead and reached out to my tech at SuperSprings (the makers of SumoSprings), and he confirmed that you cannot remove the spacer from the Solo Custom Springs # SSR-312-54 because you will not be able to tighten the bolts properly with the installation. However, you technically can cut down the springs if absolutely necessary. It is important to note that cutting the springs will void any warranty. Also, SuperSprings recommends cutting as little as necessary to get...

  • Adjusting The Plastic Spacers On A B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch To Sit Flat
  • If you're talking about the plastic spacer on the feet of the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVK3500-5W, you can unlock the hitch from the turnoverball hitch and loosen the bolts that tighten down the spacers to slide them left or right to fall into the grooves in your bed. I've attached a video below where Joe does this and slides the spacers over to sit the hitch down flat in the bed.
