A weight-distribution system can improve the ride and handling of both your tow vehicle and your trailer. By applying leverage at your hitch, this system transfers the weight that normally pushes down on your vehicle back onto all the axles of your tow vehicle and trailer, thereby keeping both tow vehicle and trailer level and their weight evenly distributed. When your vehicle and trailer are level, they ride more smoothly and handle better, improving your comfort and safety.

Labeled urethane springs

Most weight-distribution systems use metal spring bars to create leverage. These bars are heavy and usually have to be pried into place. In contrast, Andersen's patented True Motion-Dampening weight-distribution hitch uses two bushing-like springs made of urethane. The urethane springs provide a much smaller and lighter way to create the force that is needed to level your tow vehicle and trailer. Moreover, this system is quieter than spring-bar systems because there are no moving metal parts to clank together.

In addition to leveling your tow rig, this system resists bounce and sway. The anti-sway and anti-bounce functions are built right in. Once the system has been installed and adjusted, the urethane springs are under constant tension, pushing the trailer to center. Friction material surrounds the shank of the ball, further resisting motion that causes sway. You won't need to purchase or install separate anti-sway devices. And because the ball and tension plate rotate with the coupler, the system won't bind when you make a turn.

Labeled urethane springs

Adjusting the tension of the weight-distribution system is easy. All you have to do is turn the tensioning nuts (1 on each side) with the included wrench.

Video Transcript for Review of Andersen Manufacturi Weight Distribution Hitch - Weight Distribution Sway Control - AM3380

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a quick look together at this Andersen weight distribution system with sway control. Now, a weight distribution system can improve the ride and handling of both your tow vehicle and your trailer by applying leverage at your hitch. This system is going to transfer the weight that normally pushes down on your vehicle back onto all of the axles of your tow vehicle and trailer. That's going to help keep both your tow vehicle and your trailer level and their weight evenly distributed. So when your vehicle and your trailer are level, they're gonna ride more smoothly, they're gonna handle better, and that's going to improve the overall comfort and safety of your entire setup.

Now, most weight distribution systems use metal spring bars to create that leverage, and those bars are heavy and they usually have to be pride into place. In contrast, this Andersen patented true tone dampening weight distribution hits uses two bushing-like springs that are made of polyurethane, and that's going to help provide a much smaller and lighter way to create the force that is needed to level your tow vehicle and trailer. And this system is quieter than spring bar systems because there's no moving metal parts that are going to clink together. So this has a.. This is going to have a tongue weight of 1400 pounds and a gross towing weight of 14,000 pounds.

This is going to slide into your two-inch trailer hitch receiver that's rated for use with the weight distribution system. And this is going to give you a maximum drop of eight inches from the top of the hitch receiver opening. And all together, this system weighs just about 50 pounds or so. So it's very manageable if you have.. If you don't really have the ability to be messing around with a heavier system and don't necessarily have the strength anymore to get those spring bars into place, this is really gonna be a great system for you to consider.

In addition to leveling your toe rig, this system is going to resist bounce and sway. And the anti-sway and anti-bounce functions are built right into this system. And once the system has been installed and adjusted, these urethane bushings or urethane springs rather are going to be under that constant tension, pushing the trailer to center. Friction materials around the shank of the ball, and that's gonna further help resist motion that causes sway. So you won't need to purchase or install separate anti-sway devices with this system.

And because the ball and the tension plate rotate with the coupler, this system won't bind when you make a turn. And then adjusting the tension of the weight distribution system is gonna be very easy. All you have to do is turn the tensioning nuts, there's one on each side there on the other end with the included wrench that you see right here. Instructions are included to guide you through the real simple insulation process. I was able to loosely put this together on my table, really, in a matter of minutes. So I'm really impressed with what this system has to offer. I'm impressed with how it's relatively lightweight and it's very easy to get into place as well. Now, if you do happen to have any further questions about this system from Andersen or just weight distribution in general, don't hesitate to reach out to us, we do wanna be sure that you're getting exactly what you want and need. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me.

Alot less bouncing with this hitch than the one I was using...easy on and off...way lighter

by:

Install instructions and you tube video made the process easy. Hitch worked as advertised on a test drive. Time will tell after some long distance tows. I am happy with the lighter weight than other wdhs.

Product is well made. Getting the position of the brackets on the trailer A-frame is tricky. I had to move them when I noted that there is a limited amount of threads on the chain bolts so too loose or too tight can't be corrected if the brackets are over an inch one way or the other.
