Features to know about

Installs Without Splicing: Plug-In T-Connector Harness

Wiring for trailer lights doesn’t have to mean cutting into factory wires. The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector plugs directly into existing vehicle connectors for a simple, secure link. No wire tracing or splicing needed—just plug it in and it’s ready to go.

Clean Factory Look: Hidden Plug and Lead Design

No one wants exposed wires hanging off the back of their vehicle. This harness uses a hidden plug-and-lead layout that routes cleanly out of sight and connects through existing factory points. The result is a neat, protected setup that looks like it came installed from the start.

Ready for LED Tail Lights: Powered Converter Built-In

Modern vehicles with LED lighting can be tricky when adding trailer wiring, but this harness is made for that. It includes a powered converter that properly handles LED tail light signals, so trailer lights work just as they should without triggering errors or overloading the system.

Covers the Basics for Safe Towing: 4-Flat Trailer Connection

The 4-flat connector gives you running, turn, and brake light functions for your trailer. It’s the standard setup for small to midsize trailers and tows reliably every time you hitch up. Plug it in, secure it near the hitch, and your lighting is ready for the road.

Ellen: Hey everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're taking a quick look at the CURT custom fit vehicle wiring harness. This is going to give you a four pole at the back of your vehicle so that you can do any kind of basic wiring for a trailer. So if you're going to be pulling something behind you and you need to be able to have the light functions from your vehicle transferred to your trailer, this is going to be the kit for you. Now, if you need an upgrade to a seven pole, this is kind of the first step in doing so and we have a lot of information and parts available if that's going to be something you're going to do later on down the road. But, as far as this kit, the nice thing about it is that there's no splicing required, since it is custom fit.

It's just going to be a plug and play application and it uses your vehicles plugs to just run right in line. It's not going to affect the overall functions of your lights when you're driving normally. It doesn't change anything about how your vehicle operates. It's just going to be there as an additional system that's going to allow you to have that function for your trailer lights. So let's take a closer look and we'll talk about what this actually fits. This works for the 2020 through the current year model for the Buick Encore GX.

So if you have that vehicle, this is going to match up with your vehicle's wiring. So all you have to do is get access to the back of your taillights, plug and play with the plugs right there. That's where it gets the name T vehicle wiring harness, since this makes a T. The green wire is going to go for the passenger side. The red, yellow, and brown goes to the driver's side.

There's also a white wire. That's going to be your ground. The black wire coming off of here is your power supply and that needs to go to your battery or potentially a fuse block if you have another source of power there or another hookup there. Usually, it's going to be going to your positive side of the battery in the vehicle. And you'll have a fuse to go in line between that.

It also supplies a fuse to go in there. It's a 10 amp fuse. So you're going to be protected by the fuse there and also by the box itself. This is kind of the brains of the operation. This is also going to protect your vehicle from any kind of back feed from your trailer into your vehicle and vice versa, so it helps keep everything safe. This is a nice unit here. They have all this potting material, which is kind of like an epoxy to keep everything safe, so it's going to be protected from any kind of shocks and road vibrations and it also protects it from any kind of water, dirt, or debris from getting inside. So you just need to find a nice sturdy spot to mount this. It does come with some zip ties to help you make that connection, also a couple of butt connectors to make the connection between your bulk wire and the power wire and also between the bulk wire and your fuse holder and then the fuse holder to your battery. So you get all those connectors here in that bag, a piece of double-sided foam tape to connect your module box here.So pretty straightforward. It's something you can do in your driveway, in your garage, usually takes maybe about an hour or two. The hardest part, usually, is just getting access to the taillights themselves. It might be a couple of screws or fasteners that you have to remove out or there might also be some panels inside your vehicle that you'll have to pop out, but, other than that, pretty straight forward and you can get it done in an afternoon. So I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is the right choice for you. We do have a lot of wiring accessories and trailer accessories here at etrailer.com, so be sure to check us out and thanks for watching..

This fits a 2021 Buick Encore GX with LED taillights perfectly. Before you purchase a wiring harness, double check the plugs on your taillights. I purchased a Tekonsha T-One Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat plug that claimed to be compatible. It was not. Had an entirely different plug even though it claimed to be for my vehicle with LED taillights.

  • Trailer Hitch for 2023 Buick Encore GX
Hi Christopher; the 2023 Buick Encore GX is a little harder to get to since it is under "See More." Buick isn't as popular as some other brands and they aren't all shown on the initial list in our fitguide. For a hitch I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT55GR. I saw you also looked at wiring so you need the # C37UR (if you have LED taillights) or # C97VV (if you do not have LED taillights) as well. Then for a ball mount, check out the etrailer Adjustable 2-Ball...

  • Will the Blue Ox Trailer Hitch Fit My 2025 Buick Encore GX with Kick Sensor?
Hello Mark, Thanks so much for writing in! I would have been confused too. It looks like someone updated the wording on our tech tip. It used to mention that the hitch could interfere with the hands free tailgate feature, but in our experience you can still use it. Sometimes you just need to find that sweet spot by moving your foot a little to the right or left of the receiver. The Blue Ox Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # BLU42UR is going to be a great fit for your...

  • Is There a Class III Receiver For a 2021 Buick Encore GX For Carrying a Power Chair?
Currently the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C94UR is the only receiver we carry for your 2021 Buick Encore GX. This is a class I receiver with a 1-1/4" receiver. You will not be able to find a class III receiver for your Encore due to the very low capacity of the vehicle for trailer towing and tongue weight rating. To haul most power chairs with your Encore you will need a small trailer like the Detail K2 # K2MMT4X6 so you can stay under the 1,000lb trailer capacity. For the trailer you...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring for 2021 Encore GX Towing Kayak Trailer
Hi D; for a hitch I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT55GR. This is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver which will give you the most options for ball mounts and other accessories. Even though the hitch is rated for 3,500 lbs you will still be limited to the 1,000/100 lbs of towing/tongue weight of your vehicle. For wiring, it all depends on your tail lights. If they're LED you need # C37UR and if they're incandescent # TK58FR. Both will provide you with a 4-way...

  • Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness For A 2022 Buick Encore GX
The difference between the two options for your 2022 Buick Encore GX is that the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C37UR is for models with LED lights while the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C59236 is for models without LED lights. You'll just need to choose the correct wiring harness based on the type of tail lights you have, LED or Incandescent. I've attached the installation instructions for both of...
