Question:

Hello, I have a Toyota Sienna with a 3500 lb 1 1/4 receiver. Is a Weight Distribution/Sway control rig available for towing a 2700 lb camping trailer or would I have to replace the hitch that is on the vehicle now ?

Weight distribution systems are only available for vehicles with a Class III or higher rated hitch with the 2 inch receiver, not the 1-1/4 inch receiver on a Class I or Class II hitch. Your best bet would be to replace your existing hitch with a Class III hitch.

With a Class III hitch, for a trailer such as yours, I would recommend the High Performance Trunnion System, part # RP66020. This system is rated for trailers with tongue weights ranging from 200 to 600 lbs. Since a trailers tongue weight is typically 10 to 15 percent of the trailer weight, this system would be perfect for you. This system would offer you a slight improvement in sway resistance, for maximum sway resistance I would recommend the Strait-Line System, part # RP66072. This system combines the weight distribution system I mentioned above with the proven performance of the Dual Cam Sway Control System, all in one package.
