Video Transcript for Putco Red Blade Dual LED Tailgate Light Bars Spec Review

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Putco direct fit, dual, 18 inch long Blade LED tailgate light bars. Now, this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2009 and newer Jeep Wranglers and the 2020 and newer Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks. Now, these tailgate light bars will provide a nice, auxiliary tail, stop, turn, and backup light functions.

They are designed to install in the gap at the bottom of your tailgate, which is between the tailgate and the bumper. The LEDs on these lights produce a nice, bright red or white light based on which signal is being used. Now, at the end of this video, I'm gonna connect this light to some 12 volt power just to show you how the light bars work, how bright they are, but I first wanna go over some of the features on them. So, I wanna zoom in on one of the light bars. You can see they use a COB, which is a chip on board LED technology, which creates a nice, bright, solid panel of light.

The LED chips are mounted close together for a nice, uniform, high-intensity light, similar to a lighting panel. It is a sealed lens and housing unit, which is waterproof. Has an IP69K rating to stand up to severe environmental conditions and cleaning methods. And they use a nice, tinted polycarbonate housing, which provides a nice, sleek look to your application. Now, these are a simple installation.

Comes with the included automotive grade 3M tape, the mounting clips, the connectors. Even comes with this quick-connect wiring harness, which will plug into your vehicle's existing light connection, so there's no cutting or splicing of wires. And this is for a quantity of two tailgate light bars. The dimensions on each bar is gonna be 18 inches in length, 5/8 of an inch wide, and 3/8 of an inch tall. Now, when you go to the backup light output on this when they change to all white, it gives, the output is over 3,000 lumens, and it gives a cool white color.

So, what we're gonna do now is I'm gonna go ahead and hook this up. Since we got it all hooked up, go ahead and turn on our 12 volt power. And with our 12 volt power on, I'll go ahead and turn off our lights, and there you can see the taillight function. The red lights are lit up. And then when you hit your brakes, you can see how the brakes will be a lot brighter and they are red. And then when you go to the turn signals, we'll go ahead and do the first one and that's gonna be the driver's side. And if we go to the passenger side, and again, you can see they are red lights as the turn signals. And then again, when you go into reverse and you activate your backup light function, then you'll notice you'll get, that's when you get the bright, white, 3,000 lumens cool white color. That's when you'll go in reverse. Go ahead and turn back on our overhead lights. Turn off our power.
